Hot Topics @ NPE
  • $1.00 Blue Jeans on Fridays - March Money for St. Jude
Students are able to wear jeans each Friday (or the last school day of the week) for $1.00. Each child that wears jeans needs to bring the dollar with them on that particular day. On those days students may wear their NPE spirit shirt or a uniform shirt. If students do not wear jeans on Fridays, they must wear their khaki bottoms. The jeans must be free of holes and other extra designs. Please help support our school in raising funds to purchase additional materials for the students.
  • Lunch Money
Please help us with lunch money. Many students qualified for free/reduced lunch after school started, but any lunch money charged up to that point must be paid. Also, students are not suppose to charge over $20.00, but we have quite a few that over the limit. Please check your child's lunch balance and help us get these outstanding bills paid. Also, please make sure that your child has money in his/her account to purchase school meals. After three notifications of overdue money, we have to turn that information over to the Child Welfare and Attendance Director at the School Board Office.
  • Yes/No Letters
Yes/No Letters (intention letters for next school year) go home Monday, April 13. We need a reply back from every student no later than Thursday, April 16. Registration packets for returning students will then be sent home Monday, April 20.
  • Marble Slab
Our last Marble Slab Fundraiser for the year is coming up. Order forms go home on Friday, April 10. All orders and money are due by Wednesday, April 15. The ice cream will be delivered Friday, April 24.
  • Testing
We have some important Kindergarten testing April 20-23. Then we have DIBELS Testing for Kindergarten and 1st Grade April 27-30. Shortly after that we will also begin some end-of-year math testing. It is very important that we have all students here for testing. Please make every effort possible to have your students here for all of our testing.
  • Math Nights
First Grade Math Night is Tuesday, April 21. Kindergarten Math Night is Thursday, April 23. Both nights begin at 4:30.
  • PCSing
If you will be PCSing, the first day to do so with finalized records is May 8. In order to be able to do this, we must have a copy of the orders to verify the date. Otherwise, we cannot finalize the records and you will be responsible for registering your child at the new school for the remainder of this school year. In addition, if you PCS before May 8, we cannot finalize records, and you must register at the new school for the remainder of the year.
  • Eureka Math Information
If you visit our Useful Links page, you will see some links for Eureka Math help. In this time of curriculum transition, we know that parents have many questions about how to best help their children. These links will give you information and activities that will allow you to do just that. You can also link to the Vernon Parish website, under Links for Parents, where you will find even more information and help under the Parents tab. Continue to visit our Useful Links page and the Vernon Parish site as more information and links will be added frequently. Also be looking for Math Help newsletters to be sent home periodically as the students progress through the different lessons.
  • Parent Pick-Up
Parent Pick-Up is from 2:40 to 2:55. Please be on time to pick up your child. If you would prefer not to have to wait in the line on a daily basis, we suggest you allow your child to ride the bus to and from school, if you live on one of our designated streets. Just let the teacher know of the change in writing.
