Hot Topics @ NPE

  • Uniforms
Students are required to wear uniforms each day unless stated otherwise. See the Student Handbook for all the specifics. All shorts/skirts/dresses worn to school, whether it’s on jean day or on a regular uniform day, are to be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. We have had some issues with bottoms being too short. Thanks for your help with this.
  • Morning Time
School begins each day at 7:50 AM. Students who come in at 8:00 AM or after must be signed in by a parent, and the student is marked tardy. Please remind yourself of the policy in the Handbook in the front of your child’s journal. Students who exceed the allowable number of tardies/early-outs in a six weeks will be required to make up the time after school.
  • Morning Drop-Off
Students brought to school by a parent are required to be dropped off in the Parent Drop-Off Line and walk themselves to their classes each day. No parent can park and walk a child across. If we have any parents that walk to school from Dogwood, you will have to drop your child off at the end of the sidewalk and allow your child to walk the rest of the way by himself or herself. If you have something to drop off in the office or you need to speak to someone in the office, you will have to first let you child off at the sidewalk and then wait until 8:00 to come in.

Here are a few suggestions to help speed things up:

-First of all, if you live on a street where we have bus transportation, you may want to consider allowing your child to ride the bus. They get here in a very timely manner, and only our students ride our buses. There are no older students on our buses.
-If you are going to continue to utilize Parent Drop-Off, please have your child ready to hop out of the car as soon as the duty personnel open the door. All children need to have their bookbag on their back and should have any other needed items in their hands. Students should already be unbuckled. They also need to have already said their goodbyes and had their goodbye hugs and kisses
-Once the line moves, we need all vehicles to continue moving.

  • Parent Pick-Up
Parent Pick-Up is from 2:35 to 2:50. Please make sure you are on time. If you would prefer not to have to wait in the line on a daily basis, we suggest you allow your child to ride the bus to and from school, if you live on one of our designated streets. Just let the teacher know of the change in writing.
  • Lunch Money
Students must have money in their accounts in order to be able to eat school breakfast and/or lunch.
  • Spirit Shirts
Students who have a spirit shirt may wear them each Friday (or the last day of the school week) with khaki bottoms or $1.00 blue jeans. The price of the shirts is $15.  You may place an order in the office. Shirts will be ordered at the end of each month.  Students can also wear spirit shirts from last year.

  • $1.00 Blue Jeans on Fridays
Students are able to wear jeans each Friday (or the last school day of the week) for $1.00. Each child that wears jeans needs to bring the dollar with them on that particular day. On those days students may wear their NPE spirit shirt or a uniform shirt. If students do not wear jeans on Fridays, they must wear their khaki bottoms. The jeans must be free of holes, frays, and other extra designs.
  • Visitors at Lunch
If you are coming to have lunch with your child, please send a note to the teacher. If you are purchasing school lunch, it is $4.80. All visitors are required to sign in at the office and wait in the office or in the cafeteria for their child. Once lunch is over, all visitors must report directly back to the office to sign out.
  • 2018-19 Supply Lists
Available in the office or from the Classroom teacher
