March is St. Jude Month!
 - Last year we raised over $16,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year we would love to meet or beat last year's record donations.

 - Pennies/Change for St. Jude:
There are three change jars in the lobby - one for each grade level. The grade that fills the most jars with money will win a Dance Party.

 - Access the Trike-a-Thon website at:
http://fundraising.stjude.org/npe

 - Access the Math-a-Thon website at:
http://fundraising.stjude.org/npemathathon2015

 - Sign up online to collect donations. Check to see of your teacher has created a team. All Math-a-Thon and Trike-a-Thon money is due by Friday, March 27.
Field Day T-Shirts
Our annual NPE Field Day will be here before you know it! Each year we offer a special T-shirt to wear for this event. It is not mandatory to have one in order to participate, but it does make it extra-fun. The shirts are on sale right now for $12. The last day to place an order is Friday, April 10. After that deadline, we will not be able to add any other orders, so if you would like to place an order, it must be done by the deadline.

Hot Topics @ NPE
  • $1.00 Blue Jeans on Fridays - March Money for St. Jude
Students are able to wear jeans each Friday (or the last school day of the week) for $1.00. Each child that wears jeans needs to bring the dollar with them on that particular day. On those days students may wear their NPE spirit shirt or a uniform shirt. If students do not wear jeans on Fridays, they must wear their khaki bottoms. The jeans must be free of holes and other extra designs. Please help support our school in raising funds to purchase additional materials for the students. All the money raised in March will go to St. Jude.
  • St. Jude Month
We are continuing with Math-a-Thon and Trike-a-Thon all month. You can send in the paperwork and money or you can do it online. Students are also having a competition to fill the jars in the lobby with loose change. All of this is for St. Jude. The last day to collect money for any part is March 27.Our school goal this year is $15,000!!

  • Easter/Spring Break
Our Easter/Spring Break is Wed., April 1 through Mon., April 6. Everyone returns on Tues., April 7. We need all students back so we can finalize for the six weeks.
  • End of Six Weeks
The 5th Six Weeks ends on Friday, April 10.
  • Lunch Money
Please help us with lunch money. Many students qualified for free/reduced lunch after school started, but any lunch money charged up to that point must be paid. Also, students are not suppose to charge over $20.00, but we have quite a few that over the limit. Please check your child's lunch balance and help us get these outstanding bills paid. Also, please make sure that your child has money in his/her account to purchase school meals. After three notifications of overdue money, we have to turn that information over to the Child Welfare and Attendance Director at the School Board Office.
  • Cooler Weather
With cooler weather here, please remember that if a student wears more than one shirt, at least one of them is to have a collar, and any shirts worn under uniform shirts must be in uniform colors. All socks and tights must be plain white or black.
  • Eureka Math Information
If you visit our Useful Links page, you will see some links for Eureka Math help. In this time of curriculum transition, we know that parents have many questions about how to best help their children. These links will give you information and activities that will allow you to do just that. You can also link to the Vernon Parish website, under Links for Parents, where you will find even more information and help under the Parents tab. Continue to visit our Useful Links page and the Vernon Parish site as more information and links will be added frequently. Also be looking for Math Help newsletters to be sent home periodically as the students progress through the different lessons.
  • Parent Pick-Up
Parent Pick-Up is from 2:40 to 2:55. Please be on time to pick up your child. If you would prefer not to have to wait in the line on a daily basis, we suggest you allow your child to ride the bus to and from school, if you live on one of our designated streets. Just let the teacher know of the change in writing.
