Hot Topics @ NPE
  • Lunch Money
Please help us with lunch money. Many students qualified for free/reduced lunch after school started, but any lunch money charged up to that point must be paid. Also, students are not suppose to charge over $20.00, but we have quite a few that over the limit. Please check your child's lunch balance and help us get these outstanding bills paid. Also, please make sure that your child has money in his/her account to purchase school meals.
  • $1.00 Blue Jeans on Fridays
Students are able to wear jeans each Friday (or the last school day of the week) for $1.00. Each child that wears jeans needs to bring the dollar with them on that particular day. On those days students may wear their NPE spirit shirt or a uniform shirt. If students do not wear jeans on Fridays, they must wear their khaki bottoms. The jeans must be free of holes and other extra designs. Please help support our school in raising funds to purchase additional materials for the students.
  • Pajama Day
Friday, December 19, is Pajama Day for everyone. Students may wear appropriate pajamas all day that day, but they need to have on tennis shoes, etc., not slippers. If girls wear nightgowns, they need to have on shorts underneath.
  • Christmas Parties
Friday, December 19, is our Christmas Party Day. Check with your child's teacher for specific details. If the teacher has asked you to volunteer that day, please remember that other siblings cannot come because of safety/insurance reasons.
  • 3rd Six Weeks and 1st Semester
The end of the 3rd Six Weeks as well as the 1st Semester of school is Friday, December 19.
  • Christmas/Winter Break
The Christmas/Winter Break is Monday, December 22-Tuesday, January 6 for students. Faculty and Staff return on Monday, January 5.
  • Cooler Weather
With cooler weather here, please remember that if a student wears more than one shirt, at least one of them is to have a collar, and any shirts worn under uniform shirts must be in uniform colors. All socks and tights must be plain white or black.
  • Eureka Math Information
If you visit our Useful Links page, you will see some links for Eureka Math help. In this time of curriculum transition, we know that parents have many questions about how to best help their children. These links will give you information and activities that will allow you to do just that. You can also link to the Vernon Parish website, under Links for Parents, where you will find even more information and help under the Parents tab. Continue to visit our Useful Links page and the Vernon Parish site as more information and links will be added frequently. Also be looking for Math Help newsletters to be sent home periodically as the students progress through the different lessons.
  • Parent Pick-Up
The Parent-Pick-Up line is moving much quicker now. Parent Pick-Up is from 2:40 to 3:00. Please be on time to pick up your child. If you would prefer not to have to wait in the line on a daily basis, we suggest you allow your child to ride the bus to and from school, if you live on one of our designated streets. Just let the teacher know of the change in writing.
  • 2014-15 Registrations
Right now we are only able to accept out-of-zone registrations for First Grade students. The slots for out-of-zone Kindergarten Students are full. Anyone who lives on our zoned streets is able to register.
