Hot Topics @ NPE
  • Lunch Money

As we near the end of school, all balances and records must be cleared. Because of this, the Vernon Parish School Board will not allow any meals (breakfast or lunch) to be charged in the cafeteria beginning Friday, May 1. If students have a negative balance in their accounts, they will not be allowed to be served school breakfast and/or lunch. Please be sure your child has money in his/her account so that they will not be denied a school meal. All negative balances must also be cleared before the end of school in order for students to be promoted to the next grade and registered for the 2015/2016 school year. Please also note that no checks may be used to pay for school meals for the remainder of the year. It must be cash, a money order, or paid on MySchoolBucks. Thank you for your help with this matter.

  • Last Day of School
Thursday, May 21, is the last day of school for students. It is a full day of school and dismissal times will be the same as usual. However, you might want to be prepared for the buses just a few minutes early, because if attendance is low that day, it will not take them as long to run their routes. Same thing for Parent Pick-Up. If you will not be here and you would like your child’s report card (K & 1st) mailed to you, please send us a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and we will put it in the mail. Otherwise, your child will bring the report card home, or you can come by the office to pick it up after school is out.
  • Mailing Report Cards
Our last day of school is Thursday, May 21. It is a full day of school. If you will not be here and you want your child’s report card mailed to you, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to your child’s teacher no later than Tuesday, May 19, and we will put it in the mail. Otherwise, you will have to come by the school during the summer to pick it up.
  • Summer Hours
We are open during the summer. Our summer hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:00 to 1:00. We are closed on Fridays. We will also be closed on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day and on Monday, July 6 in honor of Independence Day. Registration opens back up on Monday, June 8. We do registrations each day from 9:00-1:00.
  • $1.00 Blue Jeans on Fridays
Students are able to wear jeans each Friday (or the last school day of the week) for $1.00. Each child that wears jeans needs to bring the dollar with them on that particular day. On those days students may wear their NPE spirit shirt or a uniform shirt. If students do not wear jeans on Fridays, they must wear their khaki bottoms. The jeans must be free of holes and other extra designs. Please help support our school in raising funds to purchase additional materials for the students.
  • Eureka Math Information
If you visit our Useful Links page, you will see some links for Eureka Math help. In this time of curriculum transition, we know that parents have many questions about how to best help their children. These links will give you information and activities that will allow you to do just that. You can also link to the Vernon Parish website, under Links for Parents, where you will find even more information and help under the Parents tab. Continue to visit our Useful Links page and the Vernon Parish site as more information and links will be added frequently. Also be looking for Math Help newsletters to be sent home periodically as the students progress through the different lessons.
  • Parent Pick-Up
Parent Pick-Up is from 2:40 to 2:55. Please be on time to pick up your child. If you would prefer not to have to wait in the line on a daily basis, we suggest you allow your child to ride the bus to and from school, if you live on one of our designated streets. Just let the teacher know of the change in writing.
